To all new foreigners in Singapore: You ain’t parasites, the locals are
[image taken from, juche]
The following is a statement extracted from a previous article by ed. It has been elaborated upon and given its own standalone status as an article for its significance. There is no progress without critical introspection. Only compensation via the victimisation of others.

General Strike UK: Brit Education Minister talks through his arse
“Education Secretary Michael Gove has warned teachers against taking part in Thursday's strikes - saying they risk losing respect for their profession.
And he told the BBC he backed the idea of "parents going in to help" keep schools open in England and Wales.” - bbc
So in other words, Gove thinks that the respect for the teaching profession is best maintained by teachers keeping a stiff upper lip in the face of exploitation as opposed an irate downturned brow? What would such ‘teachers’ be teaching the workers of tomorrow in schools? “its alright boys and girls, however much thou art screwed, you have to maintain the respect for your profession and take it with a smile”?

ed's response to new foreigner's 'We foreigners are not parasites of Singapore'
The following is ed's response to a Swiss, by the name of Ralph, working in singapore who calls for more openness to foreigners by the foreigners ('native-born' Chinese, Indians) living in singapore. His call was posted on the neo-Nazi scum site, Temasek Review. Quite a few of the comments that followed was really appalling. It says much about a state when a site like TR can be as popular as it is, and it says much about the so-called 'opposition' when they do not take much issue with it.
Ralph's article is posted below (TR's permission has not been sought as a2ed.com does not deem a neo-Nazi scum site to be deserving of any respect other than that which might be accorded a spittoon.)

BBC enlists the Smurfs to promote Cameron’s ‘Big Society’
When I saw this title, the first thought that occurred to myself was,
“Bet the BBC is using this to promote Cameron’s ‘Big Society’ ‘Help each other with your pockets whilst we help ourselves to yours’.” [bbc]
Well, surprise, surprise, ed was right. The final words attempted to compare smurf-land with that toff Cameron’s, ‘Big Society’ - which is a local application of Legalist-Confucian philosophy by the way.

CorpCon: Mac OSX Lion....gimmicky rubbish
It’s a bit of a con this OSX Lion thing.
I’m currently using an iphone 3gs - my first and last iphone - and i see that quite a few styles on the iphone are being transported onto the upcoming Mac OSX. The thing is, Mac OSX Leopard was unveiled on June 8th 2009. The iphone 3gs was introduced at the same time.
The question is, why is it only now that the features that were on the iphone 3gs at that time being put into Lion now? Apple was already doing it with the iphone then, so they could have done it with Snow Leopard then as well. This is what i termed, ‘the commodification of shortcomings’ sometime ago. In other words, selling a product with features that were held back in an earlier product.

in response, 'the Chinese and Others in Singapore'
The following is ed's response to a comment placed in a previous article. It has been constructed in a dialogue form.
Mark:
Hey Ed,
It's indeed really sad for locals residing in Singapore to make do with the current social and political milieu, be it Indians, Malays or even Chinese, until to the point that they are upholding the perspectives unknowingly and perpetually.
ed:
To 'uphold', oftentimes, refers to a conscious effort to do so. In the case of the 'singaporeans' of today, it is quite internalised to the point that they won't know, or be inclined to be anything but.

Who are these idiots who buy diamond rings for their women?
I remember a cousin of mine being troubled about his fiancee comparing the size of the diamond ring he was considering for her with her friend’s bigger diamond ring.
ed: dei (an Indian version of ‘hey’ or ‘oi’) let me ask you something. Is she buying you a diamond ring for the wedding?
cousin: Of course not what. We guys are supposed to buy it for them right.

Why the Dalai Lama couldn't understand the 'pizza joke'
ed's comment on youtube:
Good joke! Puns are quite lost on the oriental variety, i.e. Tibetan, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. They tend to appreciate things on a 'face value' basis. Looking at things another way besides the obvious is pretty unthinkable. It's an effect of the political oppression they suffer that stipulates that there is only one governmental-way of looking at things.

Terry Prat’s nonsensical pro-Dignity/Euthanasia argument
They really do give out knighthoods to any rat or donkey these days in the UK don’t they. Well, if the ‘Queen’ can be a ‘Queen’, I suppose any rat or donkey would qualify too. So, back to the issue at hand, ‘Sir’ Terry Pratchett, a supporter of euthanasia, in response to the ‘sanctity of life’ and why euthanasia should not be supported, said,
“What about the dignity of life? Lack of dignity would be enough for some people to kill themselves... - bbc”
I think this fella ought to stick to writing his fairy stories and leave the thinking to more intelligent human beings - like ed for instance.

Slutwalk London: Feminism Gone Wild
"Men in hard hats paused from digging up Piccadilly to watch in stunned silence as the provocative procession marched past.
They would not have dared to wolf whistle as women in stockings, bras and basques passed, clutching banners with statements like "cleavage is not consent".
The women were among the up to 5,000 people organisers say took part in the UK's latest Slutwalk in London on Saturday.
The protest movement was sparked by a Canadian policeman who advised students to "avoid dressing like sluts" to avoid being victimised. - bbc"
Awww, come on my dear sluts, don’t blame the men too much please. After all, it wasn’t too long ago that only prostitutes dressed like you. So when you go wiggling your ass and tits about like some 10 penny whore like those whom might whilst plying their trade along the streets where Jack the Ripper hung out, it is going to take some training before men learn that ‘if she looks like a whore, walks like whore, quacks like a whore’, she might not be a whore.

British Knighthoods: The truth about these worthless awards
bbc: Forsyth Knighthood Heads Honours
British Knighthoods. Rubbish. In an effort to argue for the knighthoods and awards of mere entertainers, etc, they make extra effort to cite how this or that actress ‘spent the last three years tirelessly campaigning against knife crime.’ for instance, to justify her MBE.

In response to Sg Indian's views on Indian Nationals
part 1 of this article - ed smacks singapore indian's rant against Indian nationals
The following is ed's response to Jegadisan (the author of the article quoted in the aforelinked article). Jega's full response may be found in the comments section in the aforelinked article.
*
Thank you Jega, for your response. Commenting on an article written by someone on such an issue, will tend to elicit a strong response from myself, and especially when it is published in TR - certainly a fascist neo-Nazi site. In that, my response was more of an attack on their platform from which such views are broadcast. So apologies for the tone, but the points are still worthy of taking issue with.

ed smacks singapore 'Indian's' rant against Indian nationals
The following is a response to a SG 'Indian's' xenophobic rant against foreign Indian nationals working in Singapore. Ed's response follows the excerpts below"
First and foremost, your English is horrendous. It should be “reading TRE FOR some time now”. It should also be “for this place and its people”....
...I find it strange that you say they(Indian nationals) are living here against their choice, but are so keen to apply for jobs that would require them to work and live here.
...In addition, most of you have no intention of staying here, and send most of your money back home. There is no loyalty to Singapore, and even though he is my cousin, he is just being a parasite feeding off the benefits that Singapore has to provide to him, so that he can have a better life when he returns back to India.

Corpcon: Lovefilm’s 3-dvd plan con
[the Corpcon series of articles is not simply a 'rant' about particular companies but an exercise in the art of detecting Corporation Cons. Perspectives and formulae are cross-applicable. Detecting CorpCons is a way of honing one's skills in detecting flaws and discrepancies in the overarching and more challenging socio-economic milieu].
Lovefilm is alright, so long as you don't sign up on a 3-dvd-plan and stick to a 2-dvd-plan. If you don’t, these bastards will send you your dvds on time. For a month. Thereafter, they'll stagger their deliveries so that you might even end up getting less dvds a week than when you were on their 2 dvd plan.

The similarity between Lib-Con’s ‘Big Society’ and Confucianism, in brief
"Sometimes", as I said to some Brits some time ago,
"You don’t see it coming. We come from Asia (referring to myself and V - a chinese girl from singapore), and in many parts, fascism thrives in an advanced state....like Singapore, the most successful fascist state of modern times. You don’t know what the consequences are of fascism, in its advanced state. You might not know the many means and methods by which a people are turned into fascists whilst the state in general does not seem to be so, and when it does, nobody recognises as such because they are no different themselves. Then one day, some gal/guy takes the red pill(ref. The Matrix), and realises that s/he’s living in a fascist state, and s/he never knew it because s/he, and everything s/he holds dear, is an integral and indispensable part of it."

on Chavs
So the debate is raging. Chav!
Is it a classist word? For the unawares, ‘Chav’ is used to refer to people of the lower classes in the UK - strange...despite the Brits penchant for democracy, they still keep a monarchy....nothing short of moronic of course.
Anyway, ‘Chav’ refers to those whom are relatively not as refined, having bad taste, not having the right manners, not speaking the right way, etc, etc, etc - with ‘right‘ being associated with the style of the upper classes. The equivalent in Australia would be ‘bogan’, in Scotland, ‘ned’, in singapore, ‘ah beng’.
